What is the Daily Chess Championship?

This prestigious daily tournament is one of Chess.com’s most popular events, giving you the chance to enter a competition with thousands of other players, including titled players.

The 2023 tournament featured a record 35,000 participants, making it one of the biggest online chess tournaments ever held. 2024 is shaping up to be even bigger, with a confirmed 20,000+ participants already.

It’s a great chance to sharpen your skills in daily games, showcase your tactics, and maybe even win prizes. Most of all, it’s one of the most popular, accessible, and fun chess tournaments in the world!

Format

  • Daily time control (one day per move).
  • Participants play 22 games at once in 12-player sections (one as Black, one as White per opponent).
  • Only the section winner(s) advance to the next round.
  • It’s expected that the tournament will go on for the majority of 2024, ending late in the year.
  • Fair play analysis will take place, with all section winners subject to careful review.

Prizes

The winner of the tournament will receive an exclusive trophy on their Chess.com profile as well as eternal bragging rights. All players, however, can also receive cash prizes for their participation in the tournament: prizes are given out every round for the best video analysis, blogs, moves, and games throughout the event. Registration for the 2024 Daily Chess Championship remains open until December 31, 2023. Don’t miss out on your chance to join the event and claim some prizes!
