Chess.com, the world’s largest online platform for chess, today announced it has signed with leading entertainment agency WME.

A subsidiary of global sports and entertainment company Endeavor, WME will work with Chess.com to build on the global popularity of chess across digital media, fashion, film, food, music, sports, television, and theater. Additionally, Endeavor has made a strategic investment in Chess.com.

“Chess.com’s unique community, content, and competition is a driving force behind chess’ increasing popularity,” said Ariel Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor.

“We are excited to help further expand their reach and bring more fans to the game via content development, brand partnerships, events, premium experiences, media rights, and licensing opportunities.”

WME will work with Chess.com to amplify the game of chess by developing non-scripted content including documentaries, building celebrity-centric moments, creating crossover content to attract new audiences, and fueling the game’s growth by elevating its profile in mainstream media.

WME will also represent Chess.com as its exclusive sales agency of record for global brand partnerships. “Chess.com is committed to serving our community and growing the game,” said Erik Allebest, co-founder and CEO of Chess.com.

“This partnership and strategic investment from Endeavor will be a major catalyst in helping us create more amazing experiences for the hundreds of millions of chess players worldwide through unique collaborations, content, and competitions.”

As part of its strategic investment, Endeavor will advise Chess.com in areas including events and experiences, media rights deals, content production and distribution, experiential marketing, and brand licensing.

Launched in 2005 and led by co-founder and CEO Erik Allebest and Chief Chess Officer IM Danny Rensch, Chess.com hosts more than 10 million games daily and is the preeminent online destination for both professional and amateur chess players.

Chess.com brings its community of more than 150 million registered users engaging content including live streaming of games, tournaments, industry news, tutorials, and social forums.
