Announcing Arena Kings 8 – Chess.com

[ad_1]

It’s time for the eighth season of the wildly popular Arena Kings tournament on Chess.com! Once again featuring a doubled $40,000 prize fund, this season begins Wednesday, September 22 at 10 a.m. PT/19:00 CEST.

Streamers from around the world dominated last season, giving everyone someone to root for. The always-dominant American GM Hikaru Nakamura had the highest score, followed by Peru’s IM Renato Terry, Ukraine’s GM Oleksandr Bortnyk, and Germany’s GM Georg Meier.

The Championship Final starred GM Jose Martinez of Peru, who defeated his fellow finalist IM Minh Le of Vietnam.

Arena Kings is open to all Chess.com members! Even untitled players have always had their share of success. In season 7, @narttayhan came in sixth during the regular season, while @FritziSchach_Twitch was a semifinalist in the championship. So no matter your rating, if you’re a streamer, feel free to join in the fun.

Two-hour arenas will happen every Wednesday at 10 a.m. PT/19:00 CEST followed by a knockout bracket among the top 16 finishers. The top performers during the season vie in the final week to reach the Championship Final.

Arena Kings will air every week on Chess.com/TV and Twitch.tv/Chess so be sure to tune in!
