The ninth round of the 2022 Tata Steel Chess Tournament starts at 5 a.m. PT/14:00 CET on Tuesday, January 25. The upcoming round will feature an exciting clash between the two tournament leaders, GM Magnus Carlsen and GM Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. Will one of them score the full point to take the sole lead?

Mamedyarov has a tough task ahead of him as he’ll be playing with the black pieces against the world champion. Round 9 will also give a chance for GMs Anish Giri and Vidit Gujrathi to steal the lead, although both will face tough opponents of their own.
