The fourth round of the 2022 Tata Steel Chess Tournament starts at 5 a.m. PT/14:00 CET on Tuesday, January 18. This will be the first classical chess tournament for GM Magnus Carlsen since he retained his world championship title in November. Don’t miss the action as he attempts to break the 2900 rating mark!

The fourth round is the last before the first rest day. Carlsen will have White against the defending Tata Steel champion GM Jorden van Foreest, who was on Carlsen’s team for the 2021 World Championship. Tournament leader GM Vidit Gujrathi will be piloting the white pieces versus GM Andrey Esipenko—both players are coming off of nice victories in the third round.
