CHESS players will have a very busy schedule for the first week of November with the announcement of the BC Hortelano Open Chess Tournament slated on Nov. 7 and 8 at the Deep Blue Chess Center at the 2nd Level of SM City Cebu.
This tournament will follow the 4 Central Squares-organized 1st Strike Kiddies and Open Tournament on Nov. 2 and 3 respectively at the Robinsons Cybergate Events Center.
The Hortelano event is a 7-Round Swiss System Rapid Chess event with 25 minutes time control plus a 5 seconds increment starting from the first move.
More than P10,000 are at stake for the top 20 finishers, with the champion going home with P3,000.
Tournament Chief Arbiter FA Marvin Ruelan announced that event will start at 10 a.m. on Nov. 7, while registration fee is pegged at P150.00.
In cases of ties, the tournament will use Direct Encounter, Bucholz, SB and Median Bucholz to break deadlocks.
