Chess players from across the east side participated Sunday in the first Grosse Pointe Shores chess tournament.

Players of various ages competed Sunday in the first Grosse Pointe Shores chess tournament at the Shores Park pavilion.

The event was sponsored by Shores Mayor Ted Kedzierski and Kathleen Kedzierski, and was organized by Grosse Pointe Shores residents Bruce Campbell and Susan Treder.

Chess players came from throughout east side including participants from Grosse Pointe Shores, Farms, Park, City and Harper Woods.

  • Adult winner: Jonathan Aleardi Grosse Pointe Shores
  • Middle school winner: Jahlil Stockard Harper Woods
  • Upper elementary winner: Darby Fleig Grosse Pointe Park
  • Lower elementary winner: Alexander Kuplicki Grosse Pointe City
