Chess Federation of Sri Lanka confirmed that over 300 competitors have already regisreted for the 9th Asian Schools Chess Championships which will be held at Hotel Citrus in Hikkaduwa from this weekend.
Players from 16 countries will vie at this competition which will begin this Saturday (August 31) and go on until next Thursday (September 5).
Australia, India, Maldives, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Iran, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Yemen and Sri Lanka are the confirmed teams to take part while China and Nepal are yet to confirm their participation. .
The tournament will be conducted in three categories namely the classical, rapid and blitz.
